About us

Founded in 2005. Trusted with critical infrastructure ever since.

Acwa Operations, formerly NOMAC (First National Operations & Maintenance Company), is a wholly owned subsidiary of Acwa. We operate and care for power and water assets that millions of people rely on every day — delivering safe, reliable operations and maintenance services across electricity generation and water desalination.

With operations across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, China and Southeast Asia, our teams combine global experience with deep local insight. Alongside our own portfolio we support external clients as a trusted third-party O&M provider.

Our in-house field services division, Acwa Field Services (formerly NMES), plays a vital role — a leading regional non-OEM service provider supporting plants with outage management, on-site machining, valve repair and rapid-response maintenance when it matters most.

People, capability & local value

We actively develop local talent, creating opportunities for professionals from our host communities to become experts in power, water and hydrogen technologies. Fundamental infrastructure should be built, operated and sustained by the people it serves.

A lean, accountable structure

Few management layers and a strong focus on execution enable faster decision-making, closer engagement with plant teams and a clear understanding of what is happening across our operations every day.

Operations & maintenance excellence

We operate and maintain large-scale power generation and water desalination assets across power, water, renewable energy, green hydrogen and related technologies with consistent standards worldwide.

Our services

Full-lifecycle operations, from mobilisation to optimisation.

Six service lines covering the entire lifecycle of a power or water asset — delivered with consistent standards in every region we operate.

End-to-end operations & maintenance

Full lifecycle support covering engineering design review, plant mobilisation, commissioning and long-term operation, delivered with consistent standards across regions.

Technical advisory & consultancy

Practical guidance to help improve system performance, strengthen reliability and support compliance, informed by hands-on operational experience.

Performance monitoring & optimisation

Centralised oversight supported by advanced analytics, digital twins and real-time data to help identify issues early and improve asset efficiency.

Outage management & major equipment maintenance

Planned and unplanned outage support, including overhauls and maintenance of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, pumps, thermal desalination systems and RO facilities.

Reliability & efficiency improvement programmes

Structured programmes that use root cause analysis, failure-mode assessments and risk-based maintenance approaches to reduce downtime and extend asset life.

Spare parts planning & logistics

Strategic sourcing, inventory management and procurement support to help ensure operational continuity and reduce supply-related risks.

Digital & operational interventions

A fleet-wide Monitoring & Prognostics Center — since 2017.

The MPC brings together asset data from across the portfolio, standardises data collection, secures information through cloud-based systems and uses real-time processing to support continuous oversight. Prognostic analytics, digital twins and machine learning help anticipate equipment behaviour and operational risks — all vendor-neutral.

Performance dashboards give plant teams and central operators clear visibility, alerts, case management, automated reporting and cost-avoidance insights. Centers today in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, with further expansion underway in Central Asia.

~588,717 tCO₂e by 2030

Expected annual emissions reduction through proven digital and operational interventions, contributing to Saudi Arabia's NDC target of 278 million tCO₂e per year under the Circular Carbon Economy framework.
